Nick Cruz who??

“He is a gifted communicator; he is talented and curious; and he is modest enough to remain open to innovation as he works to deepen his understanding of art.” — N.Ryan, Studio Arts Dept, Georgetown Day School

Nick’s life so far reflects a deep commitment to the arts and involvement with some of Washington, D.C.’s finest art institutions. Born-and-raised in D.C. to Peruvian and Filipino immigrant parents, his passion for music – his first creative love – propelled him to become a manager and director at the 9:30 Club while performing with bands locally and regionally. Now having chosen the artist’s path, Nick earned his M.F.A. degree in 2020 from the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing in Aix-en-Provence, France, has taught at Georgetown Day School, and currently teaches with the Smithsonian Associates studio arts program. Nick aspires to a career of teaching art, creativity, and the life lessons that come with it …while traveling the world and painting, of course.
